FSC®: Eco-responsible products for sustainable forest management

At SODEPAC, eco-responsibility is a priority and this includes choosing sustainable materials for its products.

In order to reduce the use of plastic, Sodepac decided in 2015 to launch its first range of wooden humidity absorbers and chose to use wood from certified forests for their manufacturing.

In order to obtain certifications for its products, the company had to be certified itself.

In the spring of 2024, Sodepac obtained the FSC® certification (Forest Stewardship Council), which guarantees that its wood products are made out of wood sourced from responsibly managed forests.
This certification means that each tree cut down is replaced by a new tree, that the biodiversity is preserved and that the working conditions of the forestry workers are fair. By incorporating this approach into the design of its products, SODEPAC is adopting an eco-design policy which fulfils the expectations of consumers and distributors and is in line with the company’s values.

The Mini Bali absorber was awarded the FSC® certification in spring 2024, marking a key milestone in the company’s commitment to sustainability.

But SODEPAC does not stop there : since 2019, working in partnership with Planète Urgence, it has contributed to the planting of more than 30,000 trees in order to promote reforestation, the protection of biodiversity and the economic development of local communities. The company also strives to reduce its environmental impact by using packaging that is entirely made in the Nord region and by prioritising products that are 90% recyclable or biodegradable.

Our CSR approach

In addition to the products, SODEPAC’s commitment to ecology is also reflected in an efficient environmental management system. The company implements uncompromising processes to minimise its ecological impact: work on optimising energy consumption, reducing industrial waste, improving natural resource management and implementing an effective recycling policy.

A continuous improvement mindset

At SODEPAC, our commitment does not stop at the certifications we have already obtained. In keeping with its commitment to organise and improve internal practices, the company is planning to take a new step by the end of 2025 by undertaking the ISO 9001 certification process. This international standard is based on quality management principles and aims to continually improve processes, and provide superior customer satisfaction and increased efficiency at every level of the organisation. This project once again demonstrates SODEPAC’s ambition to always go the extra mile.
